About The UWI
Since its inception in 1948 as a university college, The University of the West Indies (UWI) has
emerged over the past seven decades as a globally respected regional university. The UWI has close to 50,000 students and is counted among the top 5% of universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Today, The UWI is the largest tertiary institution in the Commonwealth Caribbean, with four
campuses in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and an Open Campus. The UWI has

the Mona Symposium Organizing Committee must make the
reservations directly with the hotel.
